Haha! A thread in which to rant endlessly and inanely about the creation of my ball dress, a sort of ball dress blog, if you will. I have tried uploading the shitty MSpaint image of my design, but
this piece of bollocking website shitmatage told me that my filetype is not allowed. WELL
SCREW YOU motionforum filehosting! You can't stop me ranting and given endless examples of my inspiration!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
*ahem*
So yes, it alice-in-wonderland inspired (in direct relation to the queen of hearts), with a splash of gothic lolita (lace, glorious lace) and just a hint of victorianindustrial muffinage (corset ties, squirrels!). And the pattern is a 1950's vogue original. <3 Oh yes, they are re-releasing vintage patterns, those lovely, lovely people! <3
Voila, the pattern:
But do note that I am
not intending to make the matching bolero, >.< just the dress.
Of course, this doesn't do just what it says on the packet, oh no, we will have much more fun with it then that.
It will be in black, I was gonna use chinese silk, for a sort kimono-lolita effect
But the cost of such fabric proved to be much too inhibitive... so, just plain satiny black fabric. <3 With the possible addition of an underskirt in volumous pleats of red netting (if I can figure out how to make volumous pleats of red netting). The back will be lowered considerably and decorated with thick black ribbon corset-ties.
And the neckline decorated with a little rouched lace trim above the bust. And around the bottom, cookie-cutter hearts, cut out of the fabric around the bottom of the skirt, with red lace sewn underneath to show through. <3
And so ja. I bought my fabric today, and a few of the other bits and bobs that go with it. As of yet haven't found any red lace yet, and I'm not even close to
thinking about what I need for the underskirt. (I might see if I can buy one, in fact...)
Also, I was thinking about getting a gothic lolita fascinator to complete the ensemble, any thoughts? Also, does anyone know where to get lace? Spotlight is totally useless and Ikes didn't have any red... ho-hom.
