Well, I started scanning most of the pages past a certain point... and everything I found was heinously predictable and banal. The characterisation is devastatingly unattractive, the plot is laughable, and all my prejudices have been ratified. Huzzah.

OH GOD. Did she have to drag Debussy into this? Not only is he ridiculously good looking, drive a nice car and wear designer clothes, but he also has exceptionally romantic taste in music. She's not really going for feasibility here, is she?

Lol you guys are funny. I didn't like the first one until the end of the book but the second is better.

I find it a bit like Harry Potter- the story line is kinda predictable and it's such an easy read because the language is so basic but it's an interesting story, taking stereotypical and traditional ideas about things (like vampires) and adapting them.

If the end is the only bit people like, why didn't they just publish the ending??

I have to say, if she ends up being SHOCK-HORROR, a vampire herself, I'll die inside quite a bit. If she's not, and he's just interested in her because he's in love with her I'll shoot myself in the face. If he's in love with AND THEN she turns out to be a vampire herself, I'll hunt down Meyer and shoot her in the face. And since I'm not entirely sure if I can be arsed reading more to find out, can someone please tell me which it is?

He's not meant to be realistic. He's also 80 years old - what do most 80 year olds listen to?

I'll admit, the actual writing is not brilliant. Its the idea of the love story that I got completely hooked on. I think she conveys the emotions of that very realistically the further into the story you get.
